What is it about the negative media and constant negative erroneous stereotypes constantly being laid on New Jersey? From Saturday Night Live, to late night talk show hosts such as Conan O’Brien, to now MTV, New Jersey is under siege. Let me just say this right from the start – it is time for New Jerseyans – ALL New Jerseyans, from northern mountains to the southern cape, to the Jersey Shore – to stand up and fight back. Enough is enough of being portrayed as low life’s without an ounce of brains.

In case you haven’t heard there is a new show that will be premiering on MTV Dec 3, 2009 called “Jersey Shore”. This is how they describe it…

“… the hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos. They keep their hair high, their muslces juiced and their fists pumping…Get ready for a whole new crazy.”
Mtv’s “Jersey Shore”

This is how MTV’s Remote Control Blog talks about the show and the Jersey Shore, as well as New Jerseyans…

“Best know as the birthplace of Bon Jovi (and omg, the JoBros!),  New Jersey also lays claim to some of the biggest hair, longest acrylic nails and most colorful lower back tattoos (a.k.a. Tramp Stamps) in the U.S. of A. And contrary to popular belief, the largest concentration of this state’s inhabitants’ defining traits does not exist in its capital of Newark. The club party’s at the beach, bitches.”
“Jersey Shore” Will Fist Pump Its Way Into Your Heart

BTW – did you notice that MTV doesn’t even know what the capital of New Jersey is??? They must have really intelligent people working at MTV.

That isn’t even the worst of it though.  This is what New York’s NBC said about the REAL Jersey Shore in their review of the show…

If you thought “The Hills” was bad, just wait for MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” starring the “hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos” around as they wade (carefully) through the (dirty) water and step (gingerly) on the (needle-ridden) sand on their way to down Jagerbombs.
MTV Launches “Jersey Shore” Reality Show

It seems as if the show should have been called “Obnoxious, Drunken New Yorkers vacation at the Beautiful Jersey Shore”.  When is enough enough?  New Jerseyans need to find against this and stand up and show the world the REAL New Jersey!

  1. I noticed the following article on the Star Ledger website…

Seaside Heights officials distance themselves from ‘Jersey Shore’ reality show

SEASIDE HEIGHTS – Borough officials have released a statement distancing themselves from the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore,” according to a report by the Asbury Park Press.

John Camera, borough administrator, is quoted as saying that the officials do not participate nor condone the derogatory remarks against Italian Americans filmed in the show, the report said. Camera continued by saying the actions of the cast are not “indicative” of the majority of people who visit the New Jersey shore every summer, according to the report.

However, since they censor their viewer comments, I was unable to post my thoughts on the issue, because it seems they would not approve my comments. Below are my comments

How about issuing a statement about the outrage toward how this show has denigrated the WHOLE Jersey Shore to an international audience, affected people’s views about vacationing here, making New Jerseyans, even though all the cast members are basically from New York, a laughing stock to the world. The only media attention it seems and only outrage is toward “Italian-Americans”, of which I am one – but I am a New Jerseyan first and I am outraged by the negative comments being made about New Jersey and New Jerseyans on messageboards, facebook, etc because of this ridiculous show.

The article was actually taken from the Asbury Park Press where I was able to post my comments – Seaside officials distance borough from ‘Jersey Shore’

I don’t think that news sites, that allow commenting – should censor user comments, unless they are attacking or spam. Censored viewer comments can give a distorted picture of how the general public feels about an issue based on the comments that appear under a news article.

  2. WHERE CAN I SEE THE CENSORED SCENES FROM JERSEY SHORE, I REMEMBER ALL KIND OF ACCIDENTEAL FEMALE PARTS SCENES THAT WERE BLEEPED OUT LOL. AS A GUY WHO LIKES ALL 4 (SNOOKI, SAMMI,J-WOWW & ANGELINA) I WANT TO SEE THOSE WONDERFUL PRIVATE SHOTS LOL

  3. Dan you won’t find anything here about where to find the censored parts. They should have censored the whole show. They made a complete joke of where they were – Seaside Heights.
